The first part, the “public” part of the workshop, shows a couple of short videos that explain the problem and the solution – followed by discussion.
After a short break, the second part – if you choose to accept the opportunity – will train you to be a presenter of your own public workshops – and grow the movement. It will last about an hour. You don’t have to be a public speaker – more like a host/facilitator. Discussion and inspiration will follow the showing of the videos.
If you want to schedule a workshop for your group, please contact Libby Carr (206-938-8721; email@example.com)
The Claiming our Democracy workshops request attendees to contribute at least $10 to cover the cost of the Instructor’s kit which contains the primary DVD used for workshop presentations and various other handouts. All donations will go toward passing this Citizens Initiative.
Also, we will soon be starting a listserv communication for people who have taken the second hour training. People who want to become trained in the future are also encouraged to get on this list now by calling or emailing Libby Carr to become a part of the workshop network.
We very much want to grow and replicate this activity quickly all over the state, so let us know if you want to join this effort. It’s very exciting and we have already gotten lots of feedback that it is an effective format that quickly trains people to understand this issue and to get them excited to carry the I-1329 petition and get it on the ballot – AND GET IT PASSED!
